1. When and how did you start fishing?
As a second generation fisherman I started fishing with my family during the summer after finishing grade four.
2. Where do you usually fish?
Usually between the northern tip of Vancouver Island and Alaska, but often at the southern end of Haida Gwaii by Cape St. James.
3. What is the best thing about fishing?
Everything! It is a good life. I can be my own boss while providing food to Canada and the world.
4. What is your most memorable fishing experience?
It’s always great coming in to port with a boat full of fish, but my favourite experiences are fishing with my three kids and wife.
5. What do you believe everyone should know about wild Pacific halibut and the fishery?
The wild Pacific halibut fishery is one of the most sustainable fisheries in the world!
6. What do you believe are the most important issues facing the wild Pacific halibut industry today?
One of the most important issues is maintaining access to the resource.
7. How would you describe the future of the wild Pacific halibut fishery?
Wonderful!
8. What three words/phrases best describe the wild Pacific halibut fishery today?
Halibut – Oh yeah! (substitute “Oh” with other colourful words of your choice that we can’t share here!)

Riding motorbikes (an Indian and Triumph) with my wife, Esther

Wild Pacific halibut cheeks and anything cooked by an Erikson

Wild Pacific halibut cheek ceviche
5. What is your favourite movie or TV show of all time?
I don’t really watch TV
6. What is your favourite song or who is your favourite artist?
My wife, Esther is my favourite visual artist
7. What is one thing that most people don’t know about you and may surprise them?
I am an open book so people know everything about me.

Wild Pacific halibut fishing
